Archivists without Borders

While reading the July/August edition of the SAA’s Archival Outlook newsletter, I came across an article about Archivists without Borders (AwB).  Think of it as Doctors without Borders but for archivists.

According to the AwB’s website the focus of the organization is on “cooperation  in the sphere of archives work in countries whose documentary heritage is in danger of disappearing or of suffering irreversible damage, with particular emphasis on the protection of human rights.”

A very cool idea and an incredible opportunity for those interested in helping out.  They’ve put a call out for archivists, conservators, librarians, students, information professionals, etc.  Or, as they put it, any “enthusiastic individuals who want to make a difference.”

Help them in their mission to establish a U.S. Chapter.
